Dear Co-operative Business NZ Members and Supporters,

Invitation to attend Cooperative Business NZ Leader’s Forum and Dinner, Tuesday, 27th February 2018, Fonterra’s Offices, 109 Fanshawe St, Auckland.

The co-operative sector in NZ is made up by over 100 businesses and organisations which currently generate around 20% of our GDP, most of these entities being Members of Cooperative Business NZ. We can all learn from each other as part of that strong co-operative and collaborative spirit that exists amongst our Members as well as across the co-operative sector globally.

On behalf of Cooperative Business NZ it is my pleasure to extend an invitation to you to attend the above event, the program of events being as follows:

9.30 am: Morning tea and registration, Fonterra Auditorium, Ground Floor, 109 Fanshawe St, Auckland CBD.

10.00 am: Welcome

10.05 am: Digital marketing and social media session (20 mins each)

11.35 am: Panel discussion (above 4), questions from the audience

“How can NZ businesses best leverage technology in providing more effective consumer marketing locally and globally, and how effective is business disruption becoming and we seek to operate successfully in an ever changing world?”

12 noon: Guest speaker: TBC, a kiwi entrepreneur with a recent global success story to tell

12.40 pm: Lunch

1.15 pm: Breakout session, option 1: Agri-producer session, topics:

Presentation from NZ Trade and Enterprise (20 minutes) and Ministry for the Environment (20 minutes) on the following topics:

  • How can we best establish, develop and grow agricultural exports globally with particular emphasis on China and USA?
  • What support is provided by NZTE to smaller agricultural exporters including new start-ups?
  • Key environmental issues for NZ’s agri-producer co-operatives as the country seeks to achieve 90% swimmable rivers by 2040.

  • Ministry for the Environment, Cheryl Barnes (Deputy Secretary, Water)
  • Fonterra, Mike Cronin (MD Corporate Affairs)

“What are some of NZ’s key future agricultural export opportunities, how does NZTE best support new agri-producer start-ups, and how can NZ’s agri sector lead the way in work effectively within environmental regulations so that goals are met”.

1.15 pm: Breakout session, option 2: Non-agri co-ops, mutuals and societies, topics:

Presentation from MBIE (30 minutes) on the following topics:

  • Key issues and opportunities for NZ’s co-operatives following the recent change in NZ government.
  • How is statutory policy and commercial law formed by our government?
  • How to improve productivity
  • How to foster an ambition to grow businesses
  • How can we best foster and further develop innovation across NZ business?

  • NZ overseas export trade – patterns and opportunities.
  • NZ economy – growth rates by sector, protection and commercial opportunities.
  • NZ business – marrying employment and productivity with innovation and growth opportunities.

6.45 pm: to 10.00pm: Dinner in Fonterra’s Auditorium.

The cost of this event will be:

  • Daytime session only: $595 plus GST
  • Dinner only: $150 plus GST
  • Both events: $695 plus GST

Attendees will need to arrange and meet their own travel and accommodation costs.
