Introduction to Co-operative Governance Programme
This Introduction to Co-operative Governance programme aims
- To provide an overview of governance including the role and main responsibilities of boards and directors as well as how an effective board works and makes good decisions.
- To highlight the unique features of co-operative governance and how to manage the challenges that arise.
- To give participants sufficient knowledge and confidence to bring value as a director to any board they currently sit on; to prepare them for taking on a role as a director and/or to decide whether or not a role as a director is something they want to pursue at this stage in their life and career.
This workshop is an interactive and lively programme that features numerous real life anecdotes. There are exercises and regular breaks throughout the session to ensure participants are fully engaged and gain the maximum value from the programme, even if they’re not used to sitting in a room for a full day.
The Introduction to Co-operative Governance workshop is facilitated by Richard Westlake, one of New Zealand’s most experienced governance trainers. Richard has more than 25 years’ experience as a board chair, he has been chair of two co-operative boards and has been a director on many co-operative boards.
