Cooperative Business NZ is delighted to collaborate with ICE (Inspire, Create & Engage) offering a programme for our members that supports the development of Māori rangatahi (youth) to grow opportunities in the workplace, share their tikanga and progress into leadership positions.
ICE is a New Zealand founded social enterprise whose kaupapa (purpose) is to design and deliver sustainable, aspirational and growth-focused career pathways for our rangatahi.
The specific programme that we would like to introduce to our members is The Growth Project – Whakaahu Whakamua.
This programme, now well into its second year, has nearly 250 tauira (students), graduates and young professional participants from across New Zealand who represent 39 iwi. The programme is supported by Te Puni Kōkiri (Ministry of Māori Development). It focuses on placing rangatahi into business and professional roles i.e. marketing, finance, legal, software design, engineering, technology etc.
This is an exciting opportunity for our members to engage with and support rangatahi into areas where you are actively recruiting, and to build capability and diversity across our membership base. As part of the co-operative principles, Concern for Community, we think this is a fantastic avenue to ‘walk the talk’ and encourage engagement with the wider New Zealand community within our co-operative businesses.
