History of International Day of Cooperatives

Marked since 1923, cooperators worldwide have been celebrating it for 100 years! This year’s celebration will be the 29th International Day of Cooperatives recognised by the United Nations and the 101th International Cooperative Day, also called #CoopsDay.

Under the theme ‘Cooperatives for sustainable development’, cooperators across the globe are invited to celebrate the International Day of Cooperatives and show how the cooperative way of working, inspired by the cooperative values and principles, has the accomplishment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of its DNA.

This annual celebration, administered by the International Cooperative Alliance, recognises the significant contribution of cooperatives to the global economy and their role in building a more sustainable future.
