Budget 2026: Deloitte New Zealand’s perspective
The New Zealand Government’s 2026 Budget will be delivered on Thursday, 28 May.
As has been signalled by the Minister of Finance, Budget 2026 is expected to focus on core public services and fiscal discipline – directing limited new funding to key priorities, particularly health, education, defence, and law and order, while maintaining tight control of discretionary spending to help get the Government’s books back in order.
While the year ahead brings its share of challenges – from inflation and fuel uncertainty to geopolitical instability and supply chain disruption, it also calls for careful navigation and steady progress. Against this backdrop, Budget 2026 is less about staying the course and more about setting the right direction for New Zealand’s economic success.
Join Cooperative Business NZ corporate partner Deloitte experts on Friday 29 Mayfor an interactive panel discussion facilitated by business commentator, Tim McCready, to discuss the distribution of spending from Budget 2026 and break down the implications for businesses, households, the economy, and society.
This discussion includes a Q&A session where you can submit your questions to Deloitte's panel. You are welcome to share the webinar registration link with others in your organisation.
