Annual Awards eligibility

Cooperative Business NZ Annual Awards celebrate excellence in co-ops, mutuals and member-owned enterprises. Eligibility and entry criteria vary by member type for organisational and individual categories.

Held each year in October or November and rotating between Auckland and Christchurch, the Annual Awards are the highlight of the Cooperative Business NZ calendar.

Annual Award category eligibility at a glance

  1. Cooperative/Mutual of the Year: anyone can nominate a Full Member for this organisation award category.

  2. Leader of the Year: All members are eligible for this individual award category [Full, Corporate Associate, Provisional, Individual and Honorary].

  3. Emerging Leader of the Year: eligible individuals for this award category are employed by a Full, Corporate Associate or Provisional Member. Anyone may make a nomination.

  4. Cooperative Innovation: anyone can nominate a Full Member or Full Members for this organisation or individual award category. Joint entries are encouraged.

  5. Lifetime Achievement: this award is open to anyone in the cooperative or mutual sector in New Zealand, regardless of membership status with Cooperative Business NZ. Therefore, all members are eligible for this individual award category [Full, Corporate Associate, Provisional, Individual and Honorary]. There is no limit to how many individuals are recognised each year.

  6. Enduring Service: this recognition acknowledges and celebrates co-op and mutual Full Members that have achieved milestones of 25, 50, 75, 100 years and milestones after 100 years of operation.
